This is the long-awaited tutorial for designing a Caspanas' night form and which restrictions and quirks come with it. With the revamp and new magic system, some things have changed. You might have already noticed it in the new reference sheets, but there is now a texture and multiple hues involved. Where before multiple colours were an indication to mental health issues, it now has none such connections.
Now we have a short FAQ made up of questions I answered recently that didn't specifically make it on the sheet.
FAQ
Can the soul fissures (markings) change?
Yes, they can change over the lifetime. Not to a completely unrecognisable design, but enough to be noticable.
Do the soul fissures (markings) glow?
No. While they pop a lot on the void-black base and are said to "shine" through the spell matrix, they themselves do not glow. Only the eyes, where the curse's spell matrix does not reach, glow.
Are they always mirrored leterally on the body?
Only big markings tend to repeat themselves on both sides of the body. Smaller markings like spots (especialyl when there are a lot of them) tend to be more random.
Can the soul fissures (markings) be three colours?
No, three colours are an extremely rare occurence, as are two contrasting colours that don't harmonise. Most of the time the soul fissures appear in two different hues of the same colour, or of colours that lay closely together.
Do the soul fissures align with the character's primary element and/or affinity?
No, the magic element and affinity have little to no influence on the soul fissures' form and colour at all. While they can coincide to fit with either primary or affinity (or even both), those cases are often more a coincidence than correlation.
Can the soul fissures be any colour?
While the soul fissured themselves do not visually glow, they still shine through the spell matric of the curse. Any dark colour would be swallowed by that, so in order to be visible, the colours must have a certain brightness and saturation to them.
Brown and grey tones, as well as darker colours do not occur for that reason. Anything that is clearly visible on the black coat and sufficiently saturated (not greyish) can be used as a colour.
